           我们讲过，翻译时不能把英语和汉语的词一个个等同起来，逐字对号照搬，本句的翻译中的“从”字明显是由from来的。如果不是翻译，谁也不会说某人“从”某个地方说话，所以按中文习惯，本句应译为:“来帮帮我忙，”他在隔壁房间里喊道。

       那么，英语为什么用from而不用in呢？这是因为英语是从声音的角度考虑的，那是“从”隔壁房间传过来的，而汉语着眼的是人说话的地方。当然，此句也可以译成:“来帮帮我忙，”从隔壁房间传来他的喊叫声。

       汉译英也要注意符合英语的习惯，如:

         Sweating from the effort，I laid the hammer aside.由于用力出了许多汗,我把锤子搁在了一旁。(from表示原因)

         Stay from bare wire, please.请勿靠近裸露的电线。(这里的from源自 prevent sb. from doing sth.阻止某人做某事用法。)

         I think future historians will label our times the "Age of Anger": Anger seems to be in everything. from movies to music to art to TV commercials.我看,未来的历史学家们会把我们这个时代称之为“愤怒的时代”,因为愤怒充斥着一切,电影、音乐、艺术乃至电视广告,无一例外。(from...to...常表示范围广,最好根据上下文将句子意思译出,译成“从…到…"不是最佳选择。)
